THE GRITTING COMPANY BOOSTED BY ECON VEHICLES
Updated. 15.February.2010

The Gritting Company a division of J.W. Crowther & Son Ltd - one of the country's largest privately-owned winter maintenance contractors – has added five more Econ spreaders to its fleet...
which covers the UK and Northern Ireland. Their extensive fleet is virtually all Econ units - only six are non Econ models – they operate out of 60 depots nationwide.
The Gritting Company provides the full winter maintenance package including weather forecast monitoring, the supply and spreading of rock salt and snow clearance services. The company’s client list includes leading supermarket chains and other retail outlets, shopping complexes, hospitals, factories and general property sites.
Director Nigel Crowther said: “We have such a high proportion of Econ vehicles for the simple reason that they do the job. Like us, Econ is Yorkshire- based and not only manufactures the equipment itself but also a high proportion of the spare parts as well. This means that we have never been stuck waiting for parts – the overall back-up from Econ is also excellent.”
This latest order – all of which have been painted in the Companies distinctive light blue - comprises 4 x 5m3 or 6m3 demountable spreaders and a permanently mounted unit on a Daf chassis complete with Spargo.
